Christine Falatico Frey, a lover of fine Italian food, grew up with amazing scents coming from her kitchen in Orange County, California as well as her Nana Julie’s kitchen in Utica, New York. The aromas included homemade Italian sausage, meatballs, eggplant parmigiana, lasagna, and her very favorite, butterhorn cookies. As a child, she would often visit her grandparents in New York and remembers sitting on the counter watching her Nana Julie make Butterhorns. Her Nana would say, “You have to watch me or you won’t learn how to make them!”. At the time, Christine didn’t understand how she would be able to remember how to make Butterhorns just by watching but years later she realized that the love her grandma was putting into the cookies and the attention to detail that came with that love was something that could not be understood simply by looking at piece of paper with instructions written on it.
Growing up there were always family and friends gathered around the table and while the love was abundant, the homemade food was frequently the topic of discussion. After marrying her husband, Mark, Christine relocated to the Bay Area where she raised her daughter, Brittney, and her son, Michael. As a stay-at-home mom, one thing never changed, “family and friends around the table.” Christine continued preparing food that represented comfort and love for her family and friends. She would frequently make Italian Butterhorns, using a recipe that has been a family tradition for generations.
After years of sharing these delectable Butterhorns with family and friends, Christine has decided to share them with you. They are prepared with the same care and love with the hope they will bring the spirit of comfort and love to your home as they have to her family and friends for years!
